Each community is different requiring that we be very thoughtful about the way we design interventions while keeping potential members in mind. We can take two important steps by working with physicians to prescribe exercise and with the corporate community to conduct HRAs and educational programs. Both initiatives will refer people to the Wellness Center where the development of personal trainers and wellness coaches will provide the resources to help them make meaningful, hopefully permanent, changes in lifestyle.

Other potential members can be introduced to wellness through outreach programs coordinated with churches and community organizations. Technology can play an important role in community outreach, linking people to the Wellness Center through a web portal, call center, and educational programs.

To be successful, the Wellness Center must make a strong commitment to marketing and retention of members. Making people feel comfortable is paramount.
