Helping people improve their lifestyle is difficult, but creating an environment that motivates and inspires them is one of the factors critical to success. The facility needs to be warm and inviting, with natural materials, a variety of volumes and spaces, and an abundance of daylighting. The idea of traditional long rows of exercise equipment should be abandoned for intimate venues scattered throughout, offering different views and vibes the possibility of a different experience each day. Space should be planned to foster the social interaction of the members with areas large enough for group activities while maintaining quieter, personal areas for more meditative, private exercise needs. To fully engage the membership, a facility cannot merely be a space where individuals come for a service, but it must be a place where each guest comes for an experience.
